Everyone who joins ASIO goes through a recruitment and security vetting process. The recruitment process varies between roles: all candidates have to attend an interview, but some will also need to attend an assessment centre. Everybody who goes on to become an ASIO employee has to obtain a security clearance, which involves a security interview and an interview with a psychologist.
Timeframes for the recruitment and vetting processes vary but can take up 12 months. We contact both successful and unsuccessful candidates to inform them of the outcome of their employment application. However, we can’t provide feedback for unsuccessful candidates.
