The Selection Criteria for ASIO job applications

Your selection criteria responses are an important step in the application process, they provide the Selection Panel with the primary basis for short listing your application. When responding to the selection criteria, it is important that you address each of the criteria questions, consider what they mean in relation to your understanding of the role and provide evidence of your suitability. It is not sufficient to say that you meet the requirements of the selection criteria – give examples from your current and past roles which demonstrate how you meet each of the criteria, keeping in mind the behaviours outlined in ASIO’s Capability Framework and the examples that demonstrate you can work to the level required.

The six core capabilities outlined in ASIO’s People Capability Framework are:

  • Promoting a security culture;
  • Strategic thinking;
  • Achieving results;
  • Productive working relationships;
  • Personal drive and integrity; and
  • Communication with influence

Candidates who do not respond to the selection criteria will not be considered to proceed further in the process.
