Violence-prone Australian groups

Politically Motivated Violence     

Like other countries, Australia has a variety of groups and individuals who at times show a readiness to injure others or damage property in the expression of their political views. Some use a rhetoric of violence and try to draw others into forms of political activism that may go beyond lawful protest.

ASIO keeps track of individuals and groups judged liable to engage in politically motivated or communal violence. ASIO alerts police if the activities of these individuals or groups indicate a likely serious breach of the law.
