ASIO Report to Parliament 2010-11
On 11 October 2011 the Attorney-General tabled the Australian Security Intelligence Organisation (ASIO) Report to Parliament 2010-11 (PDF File 8.83Mb). This is a publicly available unclassified version of a highly classified report that ASIO presents to the Attorney-General each year.
The ASIO report is unique, as ASIO is the only member of the Australian Intelligence Community to provide a publicly available document outlining its activities.
The report details ASIO’s work throughout 2010-11, including new initiatives and ongoing activities. It also provides an overview of the security threat environment – both domestically and internationally.
ASIO’s operational tempo across all divisions remained consistently high in 2010-11, with a variety of work ongoing to help secure Australia and Australians from threats, including those posed by terrorism, espionage and foreign interference.
The Attorney-General commented in a media release "The report is a key element of ASIO's accountability and it highlights the ongoing importance of ASIO's role in protecting Australia's national security and interests."
