Whether it’s a half day course or a 12 month training program, you will never be short of opportunities to improve your knowledge or skills. We recognise the benefit in investing in your personal development.

The type of training you receive upon commencement will depend on the role you are employed to do. However, all ASIO officers will have appropriate formal induction into the Organisation, followed by on-the-job induction and training. Some roles will include specific training courses which may be undertaken immediately or during your employment.

Corporate Training

You will be spoilt for choice. The courses available are going to keep you on your toes and performing at your best. Some of the courses you may be eligible to attend include: writing, IT, management, interviewing and project management.

Study Support

You may be currently studying or thinking about enrolling into a program. We may be able to help with your tuition fees, study and exam leave. Our flexible working hours will also help you with your study endeavours. The level of support we can offer will depend on the relevance to your role and the impact on your employment.

Intelligence Training

Intelligence training can be intense and lengthy, while also extremely interesting, relevant and rewarding. Aside from the formal Training Programs, you may have the opportunity to be involved in one of the many courses on offer. These may be delivered internally or by an external provider.

On-the-job Training and Mentoring

Despite being a young Organisation, collectively we have hundreds of years worth of knowledge and experiences to share. We embrace the opportunity to tighten the knowledge gap between our experienced and new employees.

The knowledge a student gains from their mentor is invaluable. Our Organisation will ensure you receive this type of training in your work area and in others if you seek it.
