Parliamentary Joint Committee on Intelligence and Security (PJCIS)

The PJCIS reviews and reports on matters referred to it by the Attorney-General or the Parliament (subject to the Attorney-General's approval). Only those matters which are operationally sensitive, or relate to individual complaints or foreign intelligence are precluded. The PJCIS may only inquire into matters that affect Australian citizens or permanent residents.

The PJCIS has nine members; four from the Senate and five from the House of Representatives.
